Bay Area Tradeshow Company Rebounds

The Bay Area tradeshow display company Key3Media Group Inc. now renamed Medialive International Inc. has plans to make trade shows like Comdex more focused than in past years.

The company that has produced such top technology trade shows as Comdex and NetWorld+Interop has emerged from bankruptcy with a new name, a new chief executive officer and a plan to move its headquarters from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

The tradeshow display company generates revenue from organizing and producing the shows, including registration fees from conference attendees and selling floor space to exhibitors. Key3Media was hit hard by the economic downturn and the terrorist attacks, as companies cut back on technology spending and attendance fell at its conferences.

Attendance at the Comdex trade show, the computer industry’s seminal trade show during strong economic times, fell from a high of more than 200,000 people in the late 1990s to 125,000 after the terrorist attacks.

Shows like the Comdex trade show and NetWorld+Interop are still important to the technology industry, although their survival also depends on how well the tech economy rebounds, said analyst Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies Inc. of Campbell.

Meadville’s first-ever Community Trade Show

Trade show display companies looking for a place to pick up some new clients might want to check out Meadville’s first-ever Community Trade Show. You can get detailed info on the trade show here: http://www.meadvilletribune.com . Sponsored by Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce, the trade show is free and open to the public and should be a great place to meet new clients. Such a small localized trade show should bring out many smaller businesses that you would not normally see at the larger venue tradeshows. For those companies who sell trade show displays this should offer a wealth of new potential clients.
